During those earlier years Pat, who is also a CPA, spent two years as an attorney for the Internal Revenue Service and fifteen years as director of taxes for an international financial services company. He has found that his background in tax and accounting has given invaluable insights into numerous issues that come up in divorce, such as calculating child support and maintenance, valuing assets for purposes of dividing property in a divorce, and avoiding tax pitfalls and costly mistakes that can occur when people enter divorce agreements without understanding the tax consequences of what they are signing.
